Steelman now operates in excess of 80 tractors and 140 trailers. Our current freight mix consists of pipe and tubing in side kits, steel coils and flat sheets, stainless steel flat sheets and coils, steel shapes and beams, manufactured steel products, fiber- glass and stainless steel tanks, large air conditioning systems, roofing shingles, vinyl siding, lumber and equipment.

Steelman uses owner Operators and Lease Operators exclusively. You do not have company trucks to compete with. Our pay package is considered to be very competitive and because of high pay rates, our turnover is low. Our shippers and freight are driver friendly.

Our primary area of operation if the Midwest from I-35 east to the East coast, and from Ohio and Pennsylvania to the South. Approximately 10% of the trucks from the Springfield terminal go to the West coast each week on a rotating basis, but we do not consider ourselves a “West coast” operation. Through careful lane management we can assure the Owner Operator a good balance of miles and home time.
