Truckers Raise over $13,700 for Charity

The Annual Truckers’ Challenge benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of the Ozarks is in the books. This is the 8th year of the event and the 3rd year for Steelman Transportation to host. The event is a session within the BBBS signature fund raising event, Bowl For Kids’ Sake and is held at Battlefield Lanes in Springfield, MO every March.

The trucking industry has been a very enthusiastic partner in the past and this year was no different raising a little over $13,760 between team entries, donations, sponsorships and giveaway prizes. Some funds are still trickling in but currently the total for the entire Bowl for Kids’ Sake event is at $132,000.

The highest scoring team of the event, Split Happens from Prime, Inc. won the Truckers Challenge Traveling Trophy and bragging rights for the year. Another Prime team, Bottoms Up, lead by Rick Minton once again won the Top Fundraiser award. Rick’s team has participated in every Truckers Challenge and has earned the Top Fundraiser honor every year except the inaugural year. That year, they won the event taking home the Traveling Trophy. In the tradition of the Bowl for Kids’ Sake event, door prizes and contest prizes were handed out all afternoon and fun was had by all.

Steelman Transportation, Inc. was established in 1981 and is a full service truck line based in Springfield, MO.  The company primarily hauls flatbed and over-dimensional freight.  The corporate fleet is comprised of Independent Contractors, including a Lease Purchase division.
